Self-catering Slovenia holidays are a great option for those wishing to have the freedom to come and go as they please.

You will find the Slovene hospitality very much in evidence. The owners will be more than happy to help you with your holiday plans, advise you on local produce or, if available, provide you with fresh bread from their kitchen or vegetables from their garden!

As far as food shops are concerned, there are plenty of supermarkets (Mercator being the biggest chain) dotted around but be aware that not all are open on Saturday afternoon and Sunday opening is currently under heated debate - the majority of Slovenes want to stop it!

If you feel like eating out, there are plenty of local Gostilnas (inns with food) and other restaurants to choose from. Self-catering Slovenia holidays are very popular and book up very quickly, so give us plenty of time if this is what you require.

There will be sheets, towels etc in the apartments as well as crockery and cutlery. The self-catering apartments tend to have small kitchenettes, enough for breakfast and light meals but possibly a bit small for cooking the Sunday roast!
