These two great lakes are the centre-piece of a region which also boasts the stunning valleys and pastures of the Triglav National Park. The iconic lakes are a short drive from the towering peaks of the Julian Alps – and are close to the enchanting town of Radovlica.

The lest-known part of Slovenia but nonetheless dramatic and attractive. This is the region with the most dramatic castles, palaces and churches as well as huge areas of vineyards producing some of the finest of Slovenia’s wines. Maribor and Ptuj are the best-known towns here.
