How to get around in Slovenia
By car
The roads in Slovenia are very well maintained and maps and road signs are clear, so driving is easy. In addition, GPS SatNav is available in all our hire cars.
Distances between the main towns and regions are surprisingly small – from Ljubljana to Bled takes about 35 minutes, to the airport just 25 minutes, Piran is about 90 minutes and the Soca Valley about 2 hours.
A road toll pass (vignette) is required for driving on motorways but these are fitted to all our hire cars and work automatically – clever!
Without a car
If you don’t want to drive then we will be happy to arrange all your transfers from and back to the airport and between different places on your itinerary.
By train or bus
There are good local services on buses and a limited but reliable train service as well. The car-train which runs between Bohinjska Bistrica and Most na Soci, and a couple of other stations in-between, is an absolute delight.
Bicycle
Many of our properties have bikes which guests can borrow for local pottering and you can hire bikes in all the big towns. Cycling is fun and easy – there are lots of signposted trails to follow.
