Meet our experts…
Between us we have visited every property that we offer in Slovenia. We have eaten in the restaurants, seen the sights and attractions, ridden on the car train, rowed the boats on the lakes and spent time with the locals . . . We know Slovenia and we love it.
It’s 30 plus years in the travel business now and I enjoy it just as much as ever. We really do have delightful clients and it is such a pleasure to deal with them – it is a privilege to have the trust of so many repeat guests who come back to us again and again.
I have been very fortunate to travel around the world so much – and to work in wonderful countries. We discovered Slovenia in 2006 and were immediately enchanted by every aspect of this marvellous country. The scenery is simply amazing, the contrasts between the regions are remarkable and the people are all so friendly. Nearly all of them speak good English which is helpful as my Slovenian is limited to say the least. Ljubljana is one of my absolute favourite cities in Europe but I have many favourite spots in Slovenia – walking in the alpine hills of Logarska Dolina, lunch on the waterfront in Piran, strolling the streets of Radovlica, supper at any one of a dozen restaurants on the river of Lubljana and many, many more. I honestly believe that Slovenia is the most beautiful country I have ever seen.
I am also privileged to work with such an amazing team of staff – I marvel at their knowledge and ability to arrange wonderful holidays, and their dedication to customer service of the highest possible standard never waivers. The team below are the very heartbeat of the business.
Ours is a family business and we love working with the families that own so many of our properties in Slovenia. We share the same ideals about customer service and also the personal touches – which our clients love – and Slovene people are such gracious and charming hosts.
I love the different regions of Slovenia and I particularly like the Art Deco style of places like Hotel Triglav and Hotel Toplice in Bled and also Vila Dobra in Bovec. I also adore the delightful tourist farms where you are encouraged to help by picking fruit or feeding the animals – and the meals that are served in these farms, based on their own organic produce, are just delicious.
I was born by the sea in North Wales so I am drawn to water wherever I go. The little coastal harbour town of Piran is utterly charming. I love to walk along the sea-front there and the temptation of fresh fish suppers and Italian ice cream is irresistible.
I love Slovenia – there is so much to see and so many beautiful places to explore……
I’ve been with the company since 2005, having spent much of my working life before this in travel, both overseas for a large UK tour operator and back in the UK as a travel agent. The wonderful thing about working for a small specialist tour operator though is getting to know our destinations in real depth. Slovenia is one of those places that, prior to working here, I’d only vaguely heard of and perhaps that’s the case for many people! But having visited I can honestly say that the country is a hidden gem and full of amazing natural beauty.
It is so easy to explore this compact country and as I particularly like to take road trips I can honestly say that driving around is such a pleasure. I feel very much at home in the mountains and driving the Vrsic pass – the stunning alpine pass which crosses the Julian Alps between Kranjska Gora and Bovec – has been one of my highlights with all 50 hairpin bends! Top Gear eat your heart out!!!
Since taking a Freddie Laker flight in the 70’s I have been hooked on travel and now my family and I love to travel to new places – our latest trip was to the lesser know Caribe Sur coast of Costa Rica. On my holidays I have a check list of things that I like to look for – characterful accommodation, interesting flora and fauna, good food, stunning countryside, a good road trip and some interesting shopping! Luckily we found all this and more on our recent holiday and I’m happy to say that Slovenia also ticks all these boxes. I’m now looking forward to my next trip to Slovenia …
I joined the team here in 2002 and it has been really pleasing to see the Slovenian programme develop and grow as we have added more properties. My main role is overseeing the administration of holiday arrangements and in an age where lots of people just want to click a mouse to arrange their lives, it is nice to find so many people who would rather talk to a real person with knowledge – especially about something so important as a big holiday.
I have just returned from a family holiday to Slovenia and we all loved it! It’s such a beautiful country, the people are so friendly and welcoming and driving around really wasn’t a chore! Mountains, lakes and wildflower meadows as well as castles, caves and rivers. My husband even enjoyed a spot of fly-fishing during our stay, in the clearest waters he has fished in! It was lovely seeing the country that I have been talking about for so long, I can’t wait for my next visit!
I joined Just Slovenia in 2012 and really love being part of the team. I have always worked in the travel industry since leaving school and have been very fortunate to of visited many countries. Travelling to new places is my most favourite thing to do! Well…… who doesn’t like to travel?!
When I first visited Slovenia it really did take my breath away. The scenery is so very beautiful – the lakes, the mountains and the magical emerald colours of the Soca River. I just loved spending time in the capital – Ljubljana, people watching and drinking coffee by the riverside. I would definitely recommend hopping on a pletna boat at Lake Bled and taking a trip over to the island, followed by indulging in the legendary ‘Bled Cream Cake’ which is a MUST as it is to die for! Yum.
I deal with the administration side of our clients’ holidays ensuring that all the elements of each itinerary have been arranged. Most of our Slovenia itineraries can include visits to multiple accommodations in more than one region of Slovenia so it is paramount that all details have been triple checked.
I joined Planos Holidays in 2002 and worked on the administration of holidays to the Greek island of Paxos. I really enjoyed being part of the travel industry but left in 2006 to have my children – two lively young boys! I was delighted however when the opportunity arose to re-join the administration team of what is now the Just Grenada Group in 2017. It is great to see how the company has grown and evolved over the years and I’m really looking forward to getting to know Slovenia…perhaps a visit?
Our newest addition to the team, Eddie…
One year old now and a real character. A Spaniel/Labrador cross and he has the qualities of both breeds, but being a youngster he still has occasional lapses – and the chewed computer cables and telephone wires are proof of that.
Our little man, who has been on every newsletter and all our websites for 14 years, has gone where the good doggies go. A faithful and constant companion who was with us for what seems like a lifetime, the office will never be quite the same – and nor will we……. RIP little chum
Our agents in Slovenia
Our partnership with ABC Tourism in Slovenia is fundamental to the success of Just Slovenia. Their experts have helped us find such a wide range of varied places to stay – many different types of accommodation but each has the character and style that we believe our clients are looking for. ABC make all the bookings and reservations for us and they also deal with all transfers as well. They have a very professional car rental division and their cars are immaculate.
The team at ABC have visited us in the UK and we love to see them – they are fun to be with and they share our dedication to customer service. When we visit Slovenia they always have a range of new places to show us and they are always looking for new things for our clients to do whilst on holiday in the country that they are so proud of.
